GIRLS volleyball tryouts take place in the fall, and Lancers are preparing. Team environments help students learn how to work together, communicate better, improve confidence, and enhance learning. These are all things students will learn if they’re on the girls volleyball team.
“My experience on the volleyball team was positive. There was a lot of team bonding, and I really enjoyed watching my teammates grow, especially my fellow seniors. I think that people don’t join out of their self-doubt, and I believe they should join nevertheless,” Lineti Suliafu (12) said. She is a senior at Granger. This is her last year of playing volleyball.
She had played for four years of high school and will miss the team. Something that seniors get to enjoy is “Senior Night.” Senior Night is a game that we have dedicated to seniors to say goodbye to them. We do posters, announcements for them and their families, leis, and pictures. Many players are looking forward to their senior night.
Coach Gravelle is the head coach for the girls volleyball team, and he would like students to know a few things for the upcoming season, “Grades 10-12 are required to have a fourth-quarter GPA of 2.0 or higher and not more than one F. You must complete your sports physical and register on registermyathlete.com. For tryouts, make sure to bring activewear, water bottle, knee pads (they’re optional), and a positive attitude.”
Tryouts will be at the end of summer, and Lancers should prepare for the upcoming season. Students should make sure they reach all the requirements so that they can join the team next year. These requirements are simple and essential; tryouts will run smoother when meeting the criteria.
“During tryouts, students will showcase their abilities and play a bunch of volleyball and do a bunch of drills and skills. We will have our summer sessions, which will soon be posted on flyers,” Gravelle said.
Lancers should look for flyers and posters in the hallways for more information. Lancers should also check out the girls volleyball Instagram page (@ladylancersvball).
“This year, I’m excited to play with my younger sister because she is coming to Granger. She is looking forward to trying out,” Sara Johnson (10) said. This is her first year playing on the Granger volleyball team. She used to play on the Cyprus volleyball team but transferred to Granger this year.
A few players, including Johnson, are looking forward to finding the new players whether that be a sister, cousin, or friend.
