STUDENTS had opinions about the football team in advance of the first home game against Alta. These Lancers shared how they feel about the upcoming football games and whether they enjoy watching them.

Ernel Magideb (10) says he feels good about the games. He thinks the season will be good for the community, the players, and the coach. He is happy for the players and hopes they can achieve their goals of winning the game and try very hard to win. He hopes for the very best and has a lot of faith in the team. So far, these students think it will be a good game and seem very confident about winning.

Erick Cruz (10) says football is a very good sport and fun for everyone to have a great game and season. He says if he were a player, he would be a good player, support many teammates, and help motivate people to try harder. For the season so far, they are doing very well, making good choices, making good plays, and trying very hard to win and achieve their goals as players on the team.

These Lancers were positive that the players would have a great season and achieve something. However, after the 49-0 loss to Alta, some Lancers feel very differently.

“The game wasn’t as good as other games I’ve been to. The players didn’t perform as well as they used to. Before the game, I thought we were going to win because of how much they practiced. I had my hopes up for what? I hope the next game will be better. I honestly feel like they could have tried better and focused more so they could have done better. I still say they did well. The game went bad, but the community got together, and that’s all that matters: that everybody got along, had a great time, and maybe next game we will win and do better this time, and hopefully the game goes as planned, and everybody is happy together and makes Granger have a good reputation,” Junior Lugo (10) said.

Many Lancers did not like that Granger lost the game after hoping for a win.

“They need to work together more and take care of the plates so they can have a better chance of winning and feed them more so they’re more bulky so they can last longer in the game and be more energized,” Liam Conway (9) said.

Some students feel Conway is right because the players did not work together and looked hungry. “They could have played better and tried more to work together to try and push each other to do better for everyone to succeed and win the game, but they did not play well and did not work together,” Victoria Padilla (10) said.

There is a clear pattern of the team not working together and not trying enough despite having good moments mixed with slip-ups. While not everyone is a football player, losing 0–49 to Alta indicates there is definitely something wrong.
