Four friends and I decided to take a road trip to Las Vegas to experience ComplexCon. A two day event that brings Hip-Hop and Fashion Culture together in one with performances from Playboi carti with Opium Nov 16 and Travis Scott with Cactus Jack Nov 17.
The road trip there wasn’t that bad as we expected with only taking one gas station stop about half way through. We stayed at the Circus Circus hotel as it was right across the venue which was The Las Vegas Convention Center. At the hotel we saw a lot of older people gambling tons of money as well as a lot of interesting vendors.
When we finally arrived at the hotel we left our bags in our room and decided to leave after 15 minutes of resting. As we left our hotel room I noticed Travis Scott go live on instagram only to find out that he was about 5 minutes away from us walking distance. Moments later we run into Travis on top of his Cactus Jack truck on his way to an event. Seeing that was really cool.We made it back to the hotel and we got some rest to be ready for the event.
Saturday morning we got up at 9 am and walked to the arena by 10:30 am. The line was really long and it honestly felt like we weren’t moving for a while. We made it inside at 12 pm and within 10 minutes of walking around we ran into FaZe Banks and took some pictures with him.
I waited in line for Ed Hardy’s collaboration with Ken Carson and I got the opportunity to meet him and take a picture. After the Ken Carson booth I headed my way to the Playboi Carti/Opium booth and on my way there I met Ken Carson again and it was crazy being shoved by his security. My first day at this booth I got 2 hoodies and 1 shirt.
On Sunday we went inside the arena at 11 because we got a good spot before the doors opened. As we made it inside my friend and I decided to go back to the Playboi Carti booth and I bought 1 hoodie and 2 shirts and he got a shirt and a hoodie from the Travis Scott booth.
Both days after buying merch we took our things back to the hotel to make it back on time for the performances. With doors opening at 5:30 we made it back to the venue at like 3 and got in line.
On Saturday after long hours of waiting we finally made it to the floor where producer F1lthy came out and opened up for Metro Boomin. Both of these performances were great and Metro Boomin brought out Quavo and that was also really cool. Fifteen minutes after Metros’ performance Opium members Homixide Gang came out to their song Lifestyle. After Homixide we saw Destroy lonely perform No Stylist right after he transitioned to If Looks Could Kill and right after he played Syrup Sippin that’s from his newest album. After Destroy Lonely, Ken Carson came out to Fighting My Demons hearing the beat drop for that song was fantastic. Right after Fighting My Demons he played Overseas which had an amazing intro. After all Opium members performed, Playboi Carti came out with Opium and Dj Swamp Izzo and played H00dbyair which was crazy. After the first song he played other songs like 2024, All Red, and EvilJ0rdan. Throughout the middle of the concert he played an unreleased song called G wagon/Crashout that was my favorite song played after 2024. Near the end of his performance he played Different day/Ur The Moon following by Timeless by The Weeknd both of these songs set off a good vibe while still maintaining a crazy performance.
Sunday night came by and we saw Mike Dean open up the show where he played some really interesting beats. Right after Mike Dean played Sheck Wes came out and played some of his songs too. In my opinion Sheck wes’s performance was really underrated and not talked about as much. Once Sheck Wes finished his performance Don Toliver came out and was the last artist to play before Travis Scott. I think Don Toliver had a really good set and did very well on hyping up the crowd. Once Don Toliver finished, Travis Scott came out to Mo City Flexologist which was a really good intro for his set. Travis had an amazing performance with the first couple of songs being Mamacita, FEIN, BUTTERFLY EFFECT, and 90210. Midway through the show Travis brought out Tripple H for an announcement about the WWE which was also cool. Towards the end he played a couple songs from Utopia following with some classics like SICKO MODE and Goosebumps. Once that ended all of Jackboys ended up coming back out to perform their song GANG GANG, in my opinion one of the coolest moments of the night. Travis then finished the show with Telekinesis and I got the chance to wave his hand on his way out.
Overall it was a really cool experience. My favorite part about the event itself was being able to meet a lot of famous influencers and seeing everyone show off their fashion skills with the outfits they had on. The two artists I enjoyed seeing the most were Playboi Carti and Destroy Lonely. I had a fun time and can’t wait to experience Complexcon again.
