As Granger’s FCCLA went to the state competition that was held on March 24th-25th, many amazing lancers got awarded for their amazing performances. These lancers are Kissy Rodrigues, Sophie Alva, Emily Masqueda, Brook Rap, Aylen Cruz, Oscar Campus, Allison Torres, Giovani Cruz, Rosie Harry, Edwin Munoz, and Sarinna Goleman.
“I feel like we did best at how we prepared for our competition and then presented it to the judges. I feel like that was one of the best parts, and seeing the progress that we’ve made came into the final result of it,” Emily Mosqueda (12) said. FCCLA members worked very hard to make it to state and represent Granger.
From preparing their presentations to presenting them to judges, FCCLA members felt stress come and go as soon as they saw that their hard work had paid off. Knowing that all members are equally hardworking, they cheer each other to build confidence.
“I thought the FCCLA state competition was a really fun and rewarding experience. It was exciting to see everyone’s hard work come together, and I learned a lot from both competing and watching others present,” Sophie Alva (11) said. As Alva got ideas while watching others, she also loved meeting new people and learning about different types of projects for inspiration and to get new ideas for her own project.
“My favorite part would be purely competing, I really love competing, I love the aspect of pushing myself to be a little bit better, and when you compete, you also get to know a little bit about your judges as well as your competitors,s and it’s really fun to see that community,” Brook Rapp (10) said.
“In the future, one thing we can do better is to emphasize preparation. Understanding that confidence doesn’t come from perfection, it comes from purpose, can be an effective perspective in many aspects of our lives,” Sarinna Goleman (11) said.
