IT’s THAT time of the year when sweethearts do what they do best: be the sweetest to one another. “I just feel like we have a lot more in common than we thought,” said Rodrigo Morales (12) about his girlfriend Brooklyn Carter (12). Morales and Carter have been together for five months. They found their spark after hanging out for the first time during the summer.
Ever since Carter and Morales have built a relationship of mutual respect. “Maintaining respect for each other is important, as well as having time for our things, but also each other,” said Morales. Morales isn’t sure what he and Carter will be doing this Valentine’s Day, but they try to go on a date every month.
Morales and Carter aren’t the only sweethearts here at Granger; Samantha Tallman (12) and Noemi Gutierrez (12) have been together for two years. Tallman and Gutierrez first started talking in March 2022. “She was brand new to ROTC and I just thought to myself, ‘She’s pretty, wow,’” Tallman said. The funny thing is, Gutierrez thought the same thing when she first saw Tallman and their relationship grew from there. Tallman and Gutierrez do have something planned for this Valentine’s Day, but Tallman is keeping it a surprise.
Some high school relationships have age gaps. One partner may be graduating this year, but that doesn’t stop them from being head over heels for one another. “It’s kind of hard to tell when I knew I liked him because I always knew that I was attracted to him, but it was a gradual thing that just developed over time,” said Lilyanna Garcia (12). Garcia and her boyfriend, Marco Villalpando (11), have been together for five months and are closer than ever before.
“I started to like her after we went and got boba and hotpot together. I liked her from the start even though we were just friends, but I was drawn to her,” said Villalpando. Some people say that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and that is very much true when it comes to Garcia and Villalpando. “Eyes are always the first thing I notice about a person; he manages to mesmerize me,” said Garcia.
Villalpando on the other hand, adores his girlfriend’s funny and caring spirit “She is caring and thoughtful. She shows how much she cares by getting gifts that have a deeper meaning.” said Villalpando.
Unfortunately, Garcia isn’t going to be in the country for Valentine’s Day. “But I’ll make sure to do something with him before or after I leave,” said Garcia.
Most relationships have people who adore one another and show that in their special way. Lisi Na’A (10) and Jordan Lenga (10) have been together for three months, and they adore one another. “I thought he was outgoing and cute, and I wanted to get to know him, so I went up to him and asked for his number,” Na’A said.
Na’A and Lenga’s Instagram pages are full of photos with one another, and it is the cutest thing by far. For their Valentine’s Day date, Na’A and Lenga are going downtown to enjoy each other’s company and to take more photos together.
Granger is filled with sweethearts who cherish and care for one another and ‘tis the season to show how much they care. So don’t be shy, get that special someone some flowers. Maybe they’ll be a sweetheart come next Valentine’s Day.
