THE SUPER Bowl LVIII matchup has been set for Las Vegas, on Sunday, February 11, and we’ll be getting a rematch of Super Bowl LIV between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.
This Super Bowl matchup will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Super Bowl has seemed to be played in nicer and warmer climates recently, so there is no sort of complaint about the weather interfering with the game.
There are plenty of mixed emotions about this Super Bowl heading into it. Many didn’t anticipate this matchup as the Kansas City Chiefs were a road team traveling to Baltimore in the AFC Championship and we’re not favorites. But they did wind up coming out victorious. As for the San Francisco 49ers, they were down big time at the half and still pulled away.
This is a very controversial Super Bowl for many reasons. One of those being that the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback is Brock ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ Purdy. The nickname ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ is a term that comes from the NFL draft every single year. It is known as the last player drafted in every year’s draft, and Brock Purdy will be the first ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ to ever start as a Quarterback in a Super Bowl.
There are two sides to this matchup though, and there’s more controversy on the other side of the field. That being the Kansas City Chiefs and their all-time great tight end ‘Travis Kelce.’ The reason he is such a big topic and has been this whole season plus playoffs is due to his relationship with superstar artist Taylor Swift. Many people were upset with the Baltimore Raven’s loss against the Kansas City Chiefs for this very reason, as they, didn’t want to see a Swiftie Bowl. But now this year’s Super Bowl has the potential to most likely be the most watched Super Bowl due to sports fans and Swifties tuning into this year’s Super Bowl matchup. Are You Ready for It?!?
As said previously, this is a rematch of a previous Super Bowl that happened in the 2019 season. (Super Bowl LIV) The reason that the Super Bowl was so important was it solidified the beginning of a legacy for superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs were down big time 20-10 heading into the 4th quarter of that game, and they rallied in an insane comeback scoring 21 points in a quarter and defeating the San Francisco 49ers.
What makes this matchup so interesting is due to how both teams have been seriously reconstructed since the last time they faced off in February of 2020. The Kansas City Chiefs have lost their superstar safety Tyrann Mathieu and all-time great wide receiver Tyreek Hill. As for the 49ers, they have traded for many superstars in the past year. Such as MVP candidate Christian McCaffrey, and pro bowler Chase Young, and have even drafted some pro bowl caliber talent in Brandon Aiyuk, so it’s safe to say that this is a juggernaut team.
Many would agree that this will be a Superbowl matchup for the books and has the potential to be pretty historic. We’ll see all of you football and Swiftie fans on Sunday night!
