Benson Boone

Benson Boone and his newest hit “Beautiful Things”
Benson+Boone

Benson Boone, the famous 21-year-old rising pop star/internet sensation recently released a catchy, yet soulful single on January 18. Many may know that it’s called “Beautiful Things.”

Boone gained a large following after going viral multiple times for his funny and entertaining reels. In TikTok, he teases his song “Beautiful Things” to us. In some, he shows himself jumping, doing a flip into his camera, and then transitioning into a clip of his music video.
The teaser of his music video made many people impatient, but they were excited for it to come out.

His single “Beautiful Things” is about his fear of losing someone he loves and cares deeply for. Boone said, “for the first time in my life, I felt like I was extremely out of control of the way this relationship would turn out. Meaning like, in the past, I feel like I’ve always known that I could be the one to end a relationship.”

In the first verse of the song, he starts off slow and calm where he talks about how his relationship started out rough, but then he met someone he never wants to lose. As he sings the first verse, I can already hear how much he loves this person by the way he uses his smooth raspy voice.

As the first verse ends, I can start to hear the slow, calm beginning switch into a more intense rhythm. It starts to lead up to something more exciting. Once the ending of the pre-chorus comes, and the chorus continues, he starts to yell, “Thеse beautiful things that I’ve got, Please stay, I want you, I need you, oh, God, Don’t take, These beautiful things that I’ve got,” These are followed by intense guitar and drums in the background.

I can hear the pain and the emotion in his voice. He becomes more vulnerable to the point that I can feel his pain.

In verse two, he begs someone not to leave him. He knows he can show them love and he’s better than he used to be, but he’s still afraid. Many people, including myself, have gone through something similar where we don’t want to lose someone who we love. We have no control over whether they will stay in our lives, or not, so it’s nice to be able to relate to him and validate ourselves through his song.

Not only is the song emotional and relatable, but it’s catchy. It’s easy to understand, and I can yell the lyrics at the top of my lungs. In fact, it’s relieving.

Many people had mixed feelings about the lyrics and the song. Many also didn’t like the switch from slow to intense, and I understand — it’s not for everyone. I, on the other hand, loved it. I was able to feel the emotion he was trying to come through with and “Beautiful Things” is definitely a song I can listen to on repeat.

Boone made the song exhilarating and allowed us into a piece of his life. He has such a unique, smooth, and raspy voice that surprises many, and many fall in love with it. He deserves much recognition, and “Beautiful Things” is a hit in my opinion.
