LANCERS are preparing for next year and the activities they want to join. Class and SBO elections take place towards the end of the year, so when Lancers get back to school, they have their new leaders who will make the 26-27 school year great. With multiple people running for the same position, tension is high,h and so is the heat of the competition. Everyone has a different approach to win this election. Some place a bunch of posters all over the school; others try to bribe Lancers with snacks and treats to get votes. But hey, whatever gets them the win, right?
“I am running for Sophomore President because I believe I can make a huge impact on the last graduating class of the 2020’s. I don’t want our class to lack school spirit & I knew I had the dedication and hard work to be able to accomplish that,” Camila Muniz (9) said. Although it may be fun to help run the school, it comes with a lot of responsibilities and time commitments. Muniz is prepared and ready for everything that comes her way. “If I win, the thing I can’t wait for is connecting with my class and the whole student government family. I have so many ideas, and I can’t wait to make winter formal a fun place for everyone,” Muniz said.
During this time of year,r students dread waking up and going to school. Cliques and teams are something to look forward to. Connecting with other Lancers and the Granger spirit can make school fun. “I ran for SBO vice president because I really wanted to do roll call; I think it would be fun. This would’ve changed my school experience because it would’ve made me want to go to school more and be more involved in it,” Yudith Espinova (11) said.
Another first-time candidate is Melanie Lugo (10), “I’m running for Junior Secretary. I ran because I knew this would be a good challenge for me; I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something that could really help me. I’m looking forward to growing as a person along with the community. I want to see the impact I make and how it benefits everyone,” Lugo said. High school is the time to join many things, not be scared, and just have fun. Being involved with school in any way can make your experience so much better, and those are the days you’ll remember when you are older.
“My competition would be the current secretary, who has been secretary for the past two years now. I think a change would be good, and I hope to be that change,” Lugo said. It’s always nice to have a good, friendly competition, and change can be good sometimes,s but others want to stick with what they know. It may be scary, but 100% worth it. The SBO and class election results are out now, and our new school leaders are ready to take charge and give us an amazing school year.
