EVERY school year is a fresh start for everyone, it doesn’t matter if you’re a returning Granger student or if you’re completely new to this school. Some students may have had different experiences than others, but teachers and administrators have been making changes every year so that new opportunities are available for everyone.

Whether you’re new and trying to get involved or a returning student looking to try something new, it’s always great to join a club, sport, or other activity.  Getting involved in extracurriculars helps students interact more with the school and will help make the school year much more enjoyable. In addition, joining clubs and sports can help students meet new people. Every coach and advisor here at Granger High School makes sure that each student enjoys what they are doing in order to give them a better high school experience.

“Last year was my first year attending Granger High School, and all I have to say is that Granger offers way more than I expected, and I know that I will have a lot of opportunities here,” Araceli Garcia (11) said.

At Granger High, there are always new things happening. For example, some aspects of the attendance and behavior policies were changed last year. Along with the changes came new consequences in order to make each student think twice about doing something bad. This school year, administration might change the rules back to how they were in previous years or keep them the way they are, depending on how well they worked last year.

Another thing that Lancers should expect is the warm welcome that every kind teacher will give. Each teacher has a different way of teaching and a different set of classroom rules, but each teacher will always be there to help out anyone who is in need.

Lancers should also expect to see students helping each other out. No student, teacher, or administrator here will tolerate any sort of bullying or harassment. Everyone is family here at Granger, and all Lancers are expected all to treat each other as such.

“Coming to Granger for a couple years now, I’ve noticed that there’s always people that are willing to help and same goes with teachers,” Paola Lopez (12) said. Granger High also offers programs that will help out students that have any type of academic or personal problem.

Granger is always having fun activities outside of school where the students’ families can come and participate along with them. Some activities are carnivals, parades, and game nights. During diversity week last school year, for example, there was a big Cinco de Mayo carnival before a soccer game. Activities such as those are a great aid in helping celebrating the great diversity here at Granger.

For kids who are willing to try something new and get involved, there’s no such thing as being bored here at Granger High.
