Springville Art Show

Springville+Art+Show

SOME OF Granger’s Lancers have advanced to the next level in a new Granite District art contest called, “Be Wide, Be Here, Be You, Belong.” They have been invited to the 52nd Annual Springville All-State Show, which is the fancy art equivalent of making it to a state competition—the Springville Art Show is the closest statewide competition for artists.

One of these art students is Yair Sierra (12). Sierra says that confidence is the main reason he’d made it as far as he did. He encourages other Lancers to continue working and improving to reach their goals just like he did.

Another state-bound student, Soliva Sun (12) says that her continuous practice with horror artwork led her to this accomplishment. Sun looks forward to meeting other artists and seeing their work. She wants to let young future artists know that “it takes time, but eventually, that time will pay off.”

Alexa Nava’s (11) submission of Renaissance art led her to this path of success. She says that she was mainly motivated by inspiration that she collected from other artists, and she enjoyed incorporating her loved ones into the piece. Nava can’t wait to see how far her work will go in the art show. She encourages young artists to keep trying and to always keep an eye out for inspiration.

Wyatt Johnson (12), submitted a state-worthy self-portrait for the contest. “It’s really important as an artist to create honestly. You can’t create if you only want to become what someone else is. You need to have a dream for yourself and create fearlessly,” he said.

Another Lancer artist, Denise Rodriguez (12), says that the encouragement of her teachers gave her enough confidence to submit her work. Rodriguez wasn’t too confident that her work would advance, but she entered anyway. She inspires other young artists to keep pushing no matter what. “Don’t let anyone tell you what you shouldn’t do because it’s weird. Just do what you want to do,” Rodriguez said.

All winners are excited about this show and can’t wait to see what it holds for them. Stay tuned, because more information on the show will be released soon. Good luck to all Lancer artists, and well done!
