GRANGER just had its 2026 Talent Show, and it was filled with wonderful performances. Many of the performers were nervous, but they knew how important preparation was. Each performer had their own reasons for wanting to perform. Some went on the talent show with their focus on winning, while others did it to share their passion with the school.
Christopher Ayon Gomez (10) was one of the talent show winners and said that before the assembly, he was nervous, but he prepared by practicing and getting his head in the game. Gomez was especially excited because he had won last year’s talent show. He sang and played two instruments, including the guitar and the harmonica. Gomez sang two songs: the first, “Culpable Tu,” and the second, “Pink Skies” by Zach Bryan.
Aaron Crane (11), a member of the band BlowFish, was excited and felt good about his performance. Crane prepared by practicing his base guitar and getting into a calm mindset. The band performed a song called “Shed” by Title Fight. The reason he went on the talent show was to entertain and because performing gave him a good feeling.
Another member of the BlowFish band, Simon Pace (10), felt pretty good about their band’s performance. “To prepare, I drank a five-hour energy before the show,” he said. Pace performed because he had seen years before when a student went up to beatbox, and it inspired him. “I thought if he can do it, so can I,” Pace concluded.
Grace Winder (12) played the song “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan on piano. Winder has been playing the piano for almost her whole life, and was definitely ready for her performance. She was nervous but excited, and practiced every day before the talent show. “I hope it goes well, but I am not there to win,” Winder said. Winder’s reason for performing was to show students the art of piano, which has been dying out over the years.
Eddie Sidik (12) placed third in the talent show with his live, looping music performance. He was feeling very anxious leading up to the performance, but he also felt good because he had been practicing for a month before. Sidik explained that his main reason for entering the talent show was to inspire others and show off his musical skills. “I really hope I win, but I also wish the others good luck,” he said.
The first-place winner of the Talent Show ended up being Cameron MauMau, who beautifully sang “Evergreen” by Omar Apollo. Everyone worked so incredibly hard to be on that stage, and they all had their different reasons for being there. So congratulations to all who performed, especially the winners! Thank you all for putting on such an amazing show!
