After 10 long years Granger girls basketball is finally going to playoffs this is a big achievement for them since they haven’t been to a playoff or championship game since 2016 unfortunately they lost but the achievement of getting there was still accomplished and so was showing the school that the girls and coaches are good enough to be there was accomplished as well. Though the game was winnable the most important win of the season was teammates watching teammates accomplish their goals. Let’s see what they have to say about each other and the game.
Litzi Santin(11) “I feel like personally it was very fun and exciting. I had fun supporting my teammates and it was fun watching them face their doubts and then reaching their goals.I think Allison Lopez, one of my other basketball teammates went through a lot to get to the playoffs. She was struggling mentally and physically during this time but still showed up for her teammates. I think it was also fun seeing DJ prevail as well since she also went through a lot of things this season, it was really fun seeing her break away and actually starting to find her groove again during the playoff game.”
Agnes Kuita (10) “ The whole experience was really crazy for me I really didnt expect us to get this far but when we did I was just super proud of everyone and myself. We went through a lot to get that far into the season and even thoug the practices were really hard and long it all paid off in the end, it made me learn a lot about how putting work into your goals can really help you achieve them.” she said
Ongomany Nyedegger(10) “ I thought it would be impossible for us to reach anything near playoffs at first I mean our reputation wasn’t the greatest but I definitely hoped this year was going to be different the looks in everyone’s eyes told me that maybe we would get a little farther this year than we did last year. Even though the coaches were different, they pushed us hard everyday, they even changed their coaching style from what it was previously so we actually had a chance to make it, that’s when I knew that everyone was absolutely serious about making this season different.” she said
Sofia Ashworth(10) “ It felt really exciting to make it my freshman year since few freshmen actually do make it to the playoffs their very first year of playing on a high school team. I think it was a really exciting and new experience because I’ve never played high school basketball with high school girls so seeing the team struggle and then overcome them was an inspiring thing to watch. Even though we lost, I’m mostly proud that the team was able to make it to the playoffs in the first place because not many teams do so. It was thrilling to see us being able to actually make it there. It impacted me by letting me know I could do it and also letting me know I can do things I thought I’d never be able to.” She said
