VENEZUELA has gone through many problems. It is a country that has been affected by corruption and Chavismo. Even so, it remains one of the most megadiverse countries in the world, with incredible landscapes such as the Andes, the Amazon, the Llanos, and the Caribbean coast. It has unique gems such as Angel Falls, the tepuis of Roraima, and impressive wildlife, including jaguars, capybaras, and anacondas. Venezuela is a country rich in resources such as oil, flora, and fauna, as well as beaches, jungles, mountains, and many beautiful places.
However, all that wealth has been lost due to bad governments. Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, with their arrogance and supposed democracy, led the country into a huge crisis. Maduro has been in power for more than 13 years, staying in power through electoral fraud and vote buying, while the economy was increasingly destroyed.
The economic crisis has meant that money is not enough for anything, and it affects wages, which are very low, and many people go hungry. In addition, basic services such as electricity, water, and gas are constantly failing, making daily life very difficult. As a result, millions of Venezuelans have been forced to emigrate, leaving their families and their country behind in search of a better future.
“Maduro has been a narcissistic president and presents a reality that is not true. Over the years, Maduro has done a lot of damage to Venezuelans and politicians who only wanted to tell the truth about Venezuela and what people experience on a daily basis,” Jack Jones (10) said.
“I had to emigrate from my country at a very young age, and although it was a very difficult experience, it also made me grow and appreciate my roots even more. I know that Venezuela has been through a lot, but I am hopeful that little by little it is managing to free itself from Maduro’s power, and I believe that one day all of us Venezuelans who emigrated will be able to see our families again, reconnect with our country, and say goodbye to those we were unable to say goodbye to in time, so that we can finally heal and close the wounds left by the distance,” Jean Toro (12) said.
“Since Chávez came to power, Venezuela has changed a lot. At first, there was support because he promised equality, but over time, the economy and basic services deteriorated. With Maduro, many of those problems became more serious,” Alexay Fuenmayor (10) said.
“As a student, I think the situation in Venezuela has worsened since the Chávez and Maduro administrations. There are many economic problems, such as inflation and lack of employment, which have affected families and caused many people to emigrate,” Cesar Palencia (11) said.
“As a young person, I am concerned about the future of the country. The lack of opportunities makes it difficult to study and work in Venezuela. I believe the country needs dialogue, new ideas, and leaders who think about the well-being of the people,” Ronald Salazar (11) said.
Despite everything, the Venezuelan people continue to fight. They are not giving up; they continue to work, study, and dream of a free and fair Venezuela with opportunities. Although the country has suffered greatly, there is still hope that one day it will rise again and return to being the great country it always was.
