IT’S TIME, we’re getting close to that time of the year. Valentine’s Day! or what others may call “ The Month of Love”. This is where you either have a date or you don’t. Fortunately, I do not. Many get together, many break apart; we all know the cycle. This holiday celebrates love, romance, and friendships by sharing your appreciation and affection with your loved ones. There’s no excuse to be spending Valentine’s alone. Let’s forget those stinky boys. Instead, have a Galentine’s!
If you don’t already know, Galentine’s is basically when a group of girls get together to show that we all appreciate one another. You guys all just hang out, laugh, talk, and have a fun day with just your gals. Most importantly,y NO BOYS ALLOWED.
An episode of the TV show Parks and Recreation inspired this holiday. In 2010, on Season 2, episode 16, Amy Poehler’s character, Leslie Knope, introduced Galentine’s. On the best day of every year, February 13, they leave husbands and boyfriends at home — with Ladies celebrating Ladies.
What plenty of people also do is exchange gifts like gift cards, chocolates, or flowers, or just honestly hang out with them in general; that’s well more than enough. In this case, it’s important we all surround ourselves with people who make us happy and people we care deeply about.
Something you and your gals can do is stay in and have a cute dinner at the gal hostess’s house. Galentine’s is an excuse to decorate your house with cute Valentine’s decor. Your girls can bring treats like chocolate-covered strawberries, cookies, or a dish to share with everyone. You guys can stay in and do activities like a lot of people’s favorites “*67”; if you know, you know, or have a movie marathon, which is my preferred go-to. Personally, I’d definitely say watch rom-coms. My all-time favs are How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Anyone But You, or A Cinderella Story. Yes, I know! You’re welcome!
Or rather than staying inside, you and your gals can get ready together and go out looking all cute. This could be during the day or at night. You know, maybe going out to have breakfast, brunch, or a nice dinner in town. You gals could go get a spa treatment, a massage, or some cute matching manis and pedis. I love a good hangout with my gals where we get cute, go out, and party.
Having genuinely great people around me lets me look forward to any event because I know I will have my friends. This is such a blessing to have: the chance to talk to my friends whenever and hang out with them and ACTUALLY have a good time. DO NOT take this for granted. I’m lucky enough to have this feeling around me, and I will forever be grateful and undoubtedly cherish these moments!
