HALLOWEEN at Granger looks different every year; this year is the most creative yet. The girls really seem to be bringing out all the stops, with elaborate costumes that may have taken all night to put together. While guys are opting for the easy way out, either wearing a store-bought inflatable costume or a simple animal onesie. Many teachers did group costumes involving other teachers.
Ms. Timpson, the theatre teacher, and Jana Hopper, the costume designer for the drama club, went as Thing One and Thing Two, with Mr. Hunt as their Cat in the Hat.
Groups of girls can be seen as Beanie Babies, with the signature tag hanging from their hair or pants. This was one of the most popular original and easy costumes seen this year.
The counselors all coordinated to be a character from Napoleon Dynamite! While most students did not know the reference, many older adults got a kick out of it. The hall monitors were each a different Care Bear, sporting their ears and red noses as they passed out late slips.
Boys dressed as Jesus, and despite the irony, none of them claimed to be any denomination of Christianity. Several different types of clowns were also seen, as they are a Halloween staple. Girls dressed up as dead/shot doe or deer were also a common costume this year.
Lots of couples were seen as vampires together — simple yet always iconic. One couple was really creative, dressing as Curious George and Ted Shackleford. One couple dressed up as Fred Durst together, goatee and all, they must have done it all for the nookie.
No matter the year or the trends, Granger does Halloween the best.
