SCHOOL safety has been a huge thing this year, there has been a lot of stuff that was added into Granger recently this year. One of Granger’s secretaries, Ryan Gardner, thinks that Granger isn’t 100% safe, but that it’s safe enough for students and teachers to feel safe coming to school. He thinks that no school is 100% safe and that no one will ever feel 100% safe, but that Granger is safe enough to stop students from being paranoid or be scared. He feels safe at Granger.
Mr. Adams, an assistant principal, says that Granger is absolutely safe and that it has the best protocols in the state of Utah. The best thing that was added into Granger were the secure locks on all the doors, which discourage students from going out when there is danger around the neighborhood and discourage them from skipping and leaving the school campus.
He thinks the secure locks work great and even if there were people trying to get in, the secure locks on the doors would prevent them from getting inside Granger.
He thinks the locks that have been added to Granger have actually worked, and he would add more cameras to make Granger feel safer, but mostly he would add more cameras outside of school — he thinks 160 cameras is not enough and they need to add more.
Brian Cruz (9) says Granger is not as safe as it could to be. He thinks there should be more police officers at school because there are not enough to make Granger as safe as possible. He thinks the locks on the door have worked. If there was a school shooting the doors would lock and the alarms would help. He does think all the stuff that was added to Granger has improved safety.
