There are so many things for Lancers to look forward to in the second semester. A new set of classes is one highlight for many students at Granger High. Alex Chavez (9) says he’s thrilled about having a fresh start. “I’m so excited to be halfway through freshman year,” Chavez said. He also mentioned that he has one new class this semester and is looking forward to the change.
The second semester brings not only new classes and a clean slate but also the excitement of being halfway through the school year. Chavez says he’s eager for more opportunities and more chances to get involved. “I’m excited for more opportunities and still having more to go and more chances to get involved,” Chavez said. Additionally, with the semester change, students are inching closer to warmer weather. “I can’t wait for spring and warmer days,” Chavez said.
Chavez reflected on how each day after the start of the second semester brings him closer to sophomore year. “It’s a little crazy to think about the fact that every day after the second semester I’ll just inch a bit closer to sophomore year,” he said. For upperclassmen, the new semester also brings them closer to graduation.
Henri Doolittle (11) says they are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. “I’m super excited for this new part of my life! You never know how it will affect you in the end,” Doolittle said. Though there’s a mix of excitement and fear of the unknown, Doolittle says they are embracing the challenges ahead. They also shared their excitement about new classes. “I have three new classes this time! I’m excited to learn how to drive and use wise choices in the future,” Doolittle said.
For some freshmen, the second semester is an opportunity to explore new interests. C.R. Senlgrove (9) says they are looking forward to their woodworking class, which has been a long-anticipated highlight of the school year. “Some things I am excited about for the second semester are that I will have woodworking as a class, which I have been looking forward to all year,” Senlgrove said.
Having new classes can be one of the best parts of the second semester, offering a welcome change in scenery and breaking the repetitive patterns of school life. For many students, the semester switch is essential for keeping things fresh. Senlgrove says that the second semester also means being closer to the end of the school year. “Second semester also means that we are just that much closer to being done with the school year,” they said.
While the end of the school year brings excitement for some, it also marks the last semester for seniors, a bittersweet time as they prepare to leave behind friends and memories at Granger High.
