HERE AT Granger, students express themselves through a wide range of personal styles. Fashion plays a big role in helping people define who they are, and Lancers embrace this diversity in their wardrobes.
Mitazin Phyu (11) said, “I usually get my clothes from Plato’s Closet, which is a thrift store, and also from a website called Depop.” Phyu says that while branded clothes can be pricey, thrift stores make them more affordable. “My style would be described as more of a grunge/scene type of style, and my favorite brand is probably Jaded London,” Phyu said.
“I mostly get my signature pieces from Plato’s Closet, as I’d like to call one of the ‘stamps.’ Depop is also a good website for clothes,” Violet Overson (10) said. Overson says Factory 4U is great for belts and that she loves Lucky Me jeans for their comfort. She prefers to spend $30 or less on clothing. “My style goes through various genres, switching from chic to indie, grunge, and even hipster,” Overson said. “My favorite statement piece is the shoes. You definitely need some boots to go with your outfits. My favorite shoes are Converse and DCs.”
“It’s really hard to find good pants, so I usually go to the mall and shop at stores like H&M, PacSun, and Hollister. As for shirts, I get them from Shein, Temu, Rue 21, or Forever 21,” Brooklynn Crowell (11) said. She Crowell says her favorite brands are Juicy Couture, Miss Me Jeans, and Lucky Me Jeans. “My style is bipolar because I might look like a basic white girl one day and a total gothic girl the next,” Crowell said. “The statement pieces of my outfits are body glitter and jewelry, which add shine. Converse are my usual go-to shoes.”
“Most of my pieces come from my older sister, who shops at the DI, Savers, or thrift stores in Salt Lake and Draper,” Hannah Altamarino (10) said. Her favorite brand is Baby Phat because of their cute scrubs and fur-hooded jackets. “My clothing is all affordable, usually in the $5–$10 range,” Altamarino said. “I wouldn’t spend more than $20 per piece unless it’s for a special occasion.”
Altamarino says she doesn’t have a defined style but enjoys mixing pieces that match. “Jewelry, like gold and silver together, and embroidered designs on jeans really complete the look. My favorite shoes are Dr. Martens, Tusks, Mary Janes, ballet flats, and Tabbies,” she said.
“Most of my clothing comes from the mall, like PacSun, Zumiez, Zara, and a website called BoohooMAN,” Marquette Howard (10) said. Howard says he works at the mall, so it’s convenient to shop there. His favorite clothing items are his plain white tees.
“I usually shop from Grailed, Depop, Balenciaga, and Instagram stores,” Ezekiel Lemus (9) said. Lemus says Grailed is an online thrift store that offers branded items, but most of his wardrobe comes from Balenciaga. “My favorite brands are Rick Owens and Balenciaga,” Lemus said. He admits his pieces aren’t very affordable, and his job over the summer allowed him to shop from higher-end brands. “I used to buy reps from a website called PandaBuy in middle school, but I stopped after it got raided,” Lemus said.
From thrift finds to high-end brands, Lancers show their individuality through fashion, proving that style is more than just clothing—it’s a reflection of personality and creativity.
