Tardy passes are used by administration to track students’ punctuality, but have you ever wondered just how many of these passes are handed out? Tardy passes are required by teachers if a student is late to class. Staff in school halls try to give tardy passes to each student out in the halls after the ring of the tardy bell. At Granger High, there are two students collecting these tardy passes. Yamile Saucedo Sanchez (10) and Alexis Romero (10) have set a goal to collect one thousand of these tardy passes. She receives all of these tardy passes from her own tardies as well as other students’. They have collected 983 of these passes, and are very close to achieving their goal. “We started getting them around midway through freshman year and found most of them walking around bathrooms,” said Saucedo. “We wanted to have a stack of tardy tickets, and we want to get to two thousand by the end of this school year,” said Romero.
