Mr. Nathan Black, called “Profe” or “Profe Black” by his students. He is the Latinos in Action Teacher of Granger High. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona but grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He came to Utah to attend Utah State University. He majored in History, after receiving his degree he started his teaching career by being a substitute teacher at other schools. Coming to Granger High he was also a substitute teacher until he got offered the position to be the Latinos in Action teacher after Mr. Brayden Eden (Former LIA Teacher) accepted a position outside of Granger. He decided to take the offer because he “Loves and enjoys the latino culture. He says he loves that he learns more and more about it every single day. His favorite thing is helping Latino students succeed and helping them get ready for college. His class has helped many transfer students that struggle, he helps them settle into Granger and make them have a sense of belonging. Being part of the class he also allows students that come from a latino background to share their experiences and family history with other latino students. His class has personally helped me stay on track/catching up with school. It has also helped me get an understanding of the process to be completely ready if I decide to go to college.
