ART GIVES people a chance to express themselves and their experiences in ways that otherwise may be too hard for them to put into words. This is what makes art so beautiful because the nicest or not-so-nice pieces can have so many meaningful things behind them without even knowing it.
Dan Alvarado (12) started getting into art at the age of 11-12 because of an old friend. Dan uses art as a strategy for relieving stress. He mostly focuses on art when he is feeling really energetic. His favorite source of art is inking because he finds peace within it.
Mia Hernadez (10) started getting into art when she was nine, and ever since then, she’s been obsessed. Mia finds inspiration for her art pieces from Vincent Van Gogh. She finds inspiration in his work because he paints beautiful things such as flower designs and sceneries. She uses her free time to paint flowers in specific because she finds peace in it and flowers are her favorite thing.
Her favorite types of art are painting and sculpture. She’s never really done a lot of sculptures because it is a very time-consuming technique and takes a lot of effort and time. She’s also considered performance art as another avenue.
Gennivy Bonilla (10) uses performing art as a way to express how she feels. She started when she was a kid and got into a performance art group and has been to many competitions since. She likes that she’s able to say how she feels without saying it because she can just perform it.
Her sister has always been a part of dance companies and always performed for big groups really inspired Gennivy because she really looks up to her older sister.
Apart from art, music is another type of creative expression in which many students at Granger are really interested. Music is a way of expressing thoughts and emotions. Jazmine Garcia (10) is really interested in the music industry. She loves to sing and has performed for a small group of people many times. Jazmine finds interest in music because she believes it was what her grandma would’ve wanted for her.
Mariangel Barraza (11) started getting into art when she was seven years old. She started by just drawing and kept practicing until she got better at it. She also uses art as a form of stress relief when she’s feeling down, she enjoys looking at other people’s art to get inspiration. One of her favorite artists is her teacher Ms. Henicke. Her favorite style of art is acrylic painting.
