HALLOWEEN at Granger was very festive and unique this year. Students wore creative and unique costumes, with many even DIY-ing their outfits, showing the effort they put into them. The spirit of Halloween hasn’t died down, even as kids get older.
For example, some of the costumes were from popular cartoons, TV shows, movies, and even some kids’ favorite musicians. The most popular costumes that were worn at Granger this year were cats, cheetahs, and leopards.
Some other popular costumes were blow-up costumes like dinosaurs. A lot of students enjoyed seeing them walk around the school halls because it was funny. One kid was even in a Garfield blow-up!
Students at Granger were then asked what their plans were over the Halloween weekend. Many said they were attending Halloween parties and were going trick or treating early in the night with friends and family. A lot of kids were matching with their friends roaming the downtown Salt Lake City streets. Many students said they had different costumes for day and night. Teachers also dressed up, and many of them had unique and funny costumes. Mr. Kendall was a toilet, and the attendance lady, Ms. Holly, was a princess who wore a pink sparkly dress. There were still plenty of students who did not dress up because they were too embarrassed, and were worried that other students would not dress up. Some students didn’t dress up because of religious beliefs.
Many people like celebrating Halloween because it’s a day that they can be themselves and not fear other people judging them. There were girls that were really good at makeup and were offering other people who didn’t dress up to paint their faces; this was a really kind gesture and showed the community of Granger.
Days prior, teachers encouraged their students to dress up for one of their last Halloweens as teenagers.
Now that Halloween is over, a lot of students are talking about their experiences. Based on this year’s Halloween, it seems that this holiday is a fan favorite for many students and teachers.
Now that Halloween is coming to an end, many people are ready for the upcoming holidays so that they can go on vacations and spend time with their families and friends.
