GRANGER’S police officers break the stereotype of stern, serious policemen. Officers Brown and Moreno are known for their lightheartedness and sense of humor. They are in charge of the safety of the school and are quite popular among Granger’s Lancers because of their friendliness.
These officers bring a great sense of security to the school. Even when they are not physically around the school, the officers are patrolling the halls and exterior of the school through their many screens with cameras in their office.
Though the job of an officer is very serious, Granger’s police officers can have fun as well. During the Granger football team playoff game, Officers Brown and Moreno were there to escort the players.
“When they came in, we escorted them, I thought that was really cool because I wanted them to feel important and say, ‘Hey look we had police escorting them,’ ” Officer Moreno said. He explained how this was a fun experience because they loved making the football team feel important after their win.
Granger’s police officers take time out of their busy schedules to interact and communicate with the students. Because of this, Lancers have become fond of the company of the officers. “Interacting with the students here is very fun for me,” Officer Brown said. “I think it’s one of the funniest parts of this job,” Officer Brown said. The many unexpected or uncalled for conversations the students bring up can be quite entertaining.
The cases handled by Granger’s policemen can be quite sensitive. They are said to handle cases revolving around Granger’s students around two or three times a week. “We try not to detain people, but if they are doing anything illegal, or against the school rules, we have to step in,” Officer Brown said.
Just like all of Granger’s faculty, the officers’ goal is to help students continue steadily in their lives and complete their years in high school full of great experiences. “We want all of you guys to do well in life, that is our goal.” Officer Brown said.
As the staff in charge of the school’s safety, the officers are not only doing a great job completing their roles, but also communicating and creating a comfortable environment with the students.
“Coming over here, serving and protecting you guys is probably the best part of this job. I want you guys to come to school and feel confident that we will do our job well. I want you guys to feel safe so you can focus on school. That’s all I want,” Officer Moreno said.
“I don’t come here and think ‘I’M GOING TO ARREST ALL OF YOU KIDS!’ I come here thinking I want to see them graduate and help them along the way by creating a safe environment for my students,” Officer Moreno said.
Overall, Officers Brown and Moreno are really loved by all students. These lighthearted and fun officers really care for Granger Lancers and want to spread an important message to all Lancers: “We as police officers want to see you in class,” they said.
The police officers have a wholesome wish to see all Granger Lancers graduate and do well in school, and they try to help students achieve this by creating a safe environment. “Make good decisions,” Officer Moreno said. As a final piece of advice to all students from the police officers, “GO TO CLASS!”
