Once Upon a Time: Senior Ball delivers night of magical romance

AS THE clock ticks down for the senior class of 2024, you know they had to go out bang — or a Ball — if you will.

On April 27, our soon-to-be-graduates came together for one last dance to celebrate the year. The hands on the clock struck 7:00 p.m., and students started to arrive at the beautiful downtown venue dressed to the nines for one last time!

The seniors this year had a good tactic; photo booth FIRST and THEN dance floor. You know, before you get all sweaty in that mosh pit. Before that lip combo rubs off, before that one kid throws water on everyone. The usual high school dance experiences, right? Needless to say, the photo booth pics captured were beautiful and will be a memory they can hold forever. This night was very memorable for the seniors, and the 2024 Senior Ball Royalty were welcomed with open arms and cheers loud enough to maybe make the neighbors complain.

The 2024 Senior Ball Royalty were King Juan Gudino (12) & Queen Ruby Carranza (12) with Prince Jorge Ayala (12) & Princess Jade Gonzalez (12).

Bestowed with their crowns and sashes, these students have now gained a time capsule to take them back to high school. The students roared at each announcement and congratulated the winners the best way we teenagers know how: chanting, clapping, jumping, and most importantly, screaming our heads off! Precisely how these seniors would want to be honored.

These students were so happy to have been voted Senior Ball Royalty! They had the biggest smiles on their faces and all the Lancer love in their hearts as the last royalty of the class of 2024!

It didn’t take long for our seniors to get hype after pictures. These seniors knew how to get it done. Let’s just say our class of 2024 “Ate that!” These seniors really left it all out there for the last time.

They danced like nobody was watching and made the best out of one of their last high school memories. Between the stress of graduating and the excitement of freedom, these kids needed a night of letting loose and having fun with their people, because it’s not over just yet, and that’s exactly what they got.

As the moon started to come out and streetlights started to turn on, time didn’t seem to be passing in the venue. It was just the teenagers dancing in the night, living their lives like it’s all over the next day. Keeping the same energy throughout the party, song after song and mosh after mosh, made it feel like time stopped for just a night for these kids to catch a breath and remember that this is fun before they walk across that stage! So a big “Thank You!” to our administration and student government for creating a space for the class of ‘24 to remember what this is all about.

Good luck seniors. May your clocks never strike midnight.
